The best way to describe Funyakking is as a combination of white water canoeing and rafting. These two man inflatable boats are an exciting way to travel down white water rapids as you are a lot closer to the action and in control of your own destiny on on up to grade 2 & 3 rapids. You will be kitted out in a 5mm wetsuit to ensure you stay warm, a helmet and a life jacket. On arrival at the river our experienced instructors will give you a safety brief and full instruction on how to manoeuvre your boat down the river and rapids.
We will be on the river with you the whole way explaining the route and guiding you down stream, so while the adrenaline is pumping you can be sure of a safe experience. This is a fast paced adventure requiring co-ordination with your partner and an ability to think on your toes! Once you have tried this activity you will not want to get back on dry land, it is truly addictive!
The River Oich is a grade 1 & 2 trip that is suitable for all and we have a minimum age of 8 +. This river runs parallel to the Caledonian Canal system and drains out of Loch Oich and our river journey ends as we paddle in to Fort Augustus and the head of Loch Ness. White water funyakking on the River Oich takes place at our centre at South Laggan at the Great Glen Water Park on the A82. This site is 25 miles North of Fort William and 45 miles South of Inverness. Own transport may be required to travel from meeting point to activity location.
A funyakking trip down the River Awe is a fantastic white water adventure and a step up from the River Oich. The River Awe boasts grade 2 and 3 white water and offers reliable water levels throughout the spring and summer due to the dam at the top of the river that releases water. With rapids such as “Magnetic Boulder” and the” Graveyard,” this fun and exciting river trip activity is a great alternative to white water rafting for the more adventurous.
The River Awe is located just 15 miles from the beautiful seaside town of Oban and we usually meet at The Loch Awe Holiday Park near Taynuilt.
